For so long we have been conditioned to be a me, myself and I culture. For so long our focus has been on ourselves and our immediate needs. For so long we were driven by surviving the moment and one day at a time.
It has again become time for us and our communities to look up and see the potential of what we have, where we are. It has again become time for us to live our God created purpose.
It is true that, without pointing fingers or blaming anyone, lack of care has resulted in decay and ineffective systems and structures. It is true that turning it around seems like a great and impossible task, requiring large amounts of resources.
But what if, through community, taking hands and coming together as a unity, setting aside differences and rather focussing on one common goal, we can again restore what we have to a level of value and beauty, one small step at a time? What if, we start building and restoring again? Uplifting and giving back hope, creating opportunities for the community as a whole, without waiting for someone else to do it for us.
Each one of us has been created with a unique gift and ability that only has value when linked to that of the people around us … not for my benefit, but for our benefit … for the benefit of the community … for the benefit of our children and their children.
It is for this purpose that Our Town Fochville has been created as a community Co-Op. Not owned by any single individual, but by every person who is a member. With equal vote and combined decision making. Not for the benefit of a small group, but to bring a town together to restore what belongs to the town. Not politically driven but driven by people with a heart for their community. Driven by people who lives for a value system that nurtures, loves, uplifts and restores. A value system that says: “We care.” We care about Fochville.
